With over 20 years of fitness experience, I developed a comprehensive workout program that is built and based on Pilates techniques combined with everyday functional movements, sport athletic movements and basic weight lifting movements. I utilize hand weights, weight bars and weighted medicine balls in my video workouts. You will combine these movements and rehearse in a pattern by performing many repetitions and you will notice that your movement skills will begin to improve with a continuous flow. The variations, the pattern, order and pace of the movements is what makes my workout program unique and different from all others and why we get the results that we do.
The workouts are progressive. With practice and effort, you will be able to move from my beginner videos to the intermediate/advanced videos. The workouts most often will begin with a standing type warm up and stretch followed by movements specific to that level. Each workout will be approximately 12-15 minutes long allowing you to repeat the video or combine it with other videos from the library to create a unique workout each time. The levels of workouts:
My workouts are on 2 levels: Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced. When you begin these workouts, be constantly aware of how your body feels. Don’t strain, don’t overdo and of course stop if you ever feel pain. These workouts take time and patience and you get what you put into it. Just watch, go along and follow me as I direct you thru each movement. Do what you can. Keep the breath going and don’t try to do too much. If you can only do a few repetitions, that is ok, do not worry. It is common to be sore the next day. That’s expected as we are using a lot of muscles! The Hottie Pilates Beginner workout is geared for a person who is somewhat active, with no restrictions and can move in all directions. A person, who works out at least 3 times a week with weights and does some cardio, would be a good candidate for this level. We will use an inflatable ball and wooden pole/light bar, 2-4 lb hand weights.
The Hottie Pilates Intermediate/Advanced workout is geared for a person who is active 3-5 days a week with a scheduled routine of at least an hour of weights and cardio. You must have good overall core strength and flexibility. We will use a 6-9 pound weighted bar, 3-6 pound hand weights and a 4-5 pound medicine ball.
Equipment for the Hottie Pilates Workouts:
At Hottie Pilates, we use the best equipment available. If you are going to invest in your health, why use less than the best. Begin right, have your equipment ready and you will be more serious about your workout. The equipment sets the tone. At the studio, we use 6 and 9 pound weighted bars, 2 and 3 pound sets of hand weights, 4-5 pound medicine balls, inflatable balls, wooden poles or lightweight bars, and very nice cushioned mats.
